Dear Donors:

Welcome to the SickKids Foundation Chinese Supporters web site. This site includes an article entitled “Healthier Children. A Better World”™ translated in Chinese to help the Chinese readers better understand the need to fundraise in the Asian community.

The money raised from this web site will help purchase new medical equipment and fund much-needed research to discover new cures for children’s diseases. It will also support three other Asian patient care initiatives.

The first area, is to provide funds for Chinese Doctors to arrive at SickKids from China for medical training. These Chinese Doctors will return to China to teach their colleagues the advanced medical techniques they learned at SickKids. We hope that this training will further advance the overall quality of paediatric care in China.

The second area, is the translation of paediatric medical articles into Chinese for publication in Chinese newspapers and magazines. These articles introduce medical treatments and research at SickKids to the Chinese community and they also highlight symptoms of rare conditions and diseases afflicting young children.

The third area, is to start training Cantonese and Mandarin speaking volunteers to help Asian patient’s parents who have limited English skills to better communicate with the medical staff through the help of these volunteer translators.

Our SickKids Foundation Annual Report is available for your review and notes that our cost per dollar raised fundraising ratio has been lower than the standard 3:1 norm. Your money will be put to excellent use for the delivery of exceptional healthcare not only to Asian children, but to ALL children around the world. Our vision is: “Healthier Children.
